Water Safety
Lake Sundance does not provide supervision or lifeguards for park/lake use
Guardians are responsible for children at all times
Members and guests use the facilities at their own risk
SAFETY POINTS
First Aid Kit, A.E.D. and Emergency phone are located at the main gate
Four float ring and reaching pole stations are on the beach to throw or reach to swimmers in need of assistance
PFDs or Lifejackets are required on all flotation devices (tubes, dinghies, air mattresses) * City of Calgary bylaw #9084
Always actively watch children around water - even if they can swim
Stay within arms reach of young children and non-swimmers
Swim with a buddy
Be aware of other peoples activities
Watercraft are not permitted in the designated swimming area (marked by buoy lines)

The slope of the sand in the water varies in steepness and drop off
- The beach closest to the main gate is the oldest beach and has the most gradual and longest slope
- The beach next to the on-shore fishing area is the newest and has a very steep foreshore and drop offWater is colder and there is a slight current where the waterfall enters the lake
Be on the lookout for rocks, vegetation, or debris in the water and sand
Wildlife and insects - especially Canada Geese with goslings
Keep an eye on the sky for changing weather conditions
Be aware of prolonged sun exposure and stay hydrated
Shower after swimming
